The house we lived in, in Walton lane, opposite anfield cemetery gates, as was common at the back at the houses there was wide back entrances were they built air raid shelters. When the air raid sirens went everyone ran to these shelters, my mother took me into the shelter. My Dad in the army. A landmine had been dropped on anfield cemetery, which caused a huge explosion we thought we were about to die. When we came out all the houses were ruined. There were fires burning everywhere. My mother decided to evacuate us to fazackly to live with my auntie and we stayed there during the war, as we were relatively safe.
