When the news came through that the war was over we were all locked in our billets - I was in the WRAF. But some of the RAF boys who were billeted next door just got the ladder and put it up to the windows. There was about 12 of us who climbed out and ran down to the square. We were all in our pyjamas and partied in the square in Bournemouth all night. There were hundreds of us and the local newspaper took our photos.
When got back to our billet we were reprimanded but got away with it.
