There were only two really bad bombings in my area that I can remember. The first was when a bomb hit two churches and a row of houses, killing thirty. When this happened a sixteen-year-old girl had to hold a baby above water in a flooded cellar for a very long time and was given a medal for this act of bravery. The second one hit Bescot sidings, a place where trains were kept for storage and maintenance, this damaged houses as well.
I also remember a plane coming down in the day and missing our house by 400 yards and hitting a semi-detached house almost tearing it apart but luckily no one was killed.
