I attended St Johns鈥 Primary School in Redhill, Surrey during the war. I was seven or eight years old when it began. I can remember going up and down the Air Raid Shelters. We did lots of knitting and sang songs down there. Do you know 鈥楾en Green Bottles鈥 or 鈥業nsy Winsy Spider鈥?
In later years we stayed out during the Air Raids. Fancy that. We watched the V2 rockets or 鈥淒oodlebugs鈥. We would try to see where they landed. Then the boys would pedal off after them on their bicycles. They collected the pieces. If a piece had a number on it, it was very special.
