This contribution to People’s War was received by the Action Desk at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cleveland and submitted to the website, with the permission and on behalf of Mr D Bradock.

On the town’s Town Moor, there was 12 rockets rocket launchers each gun fired at any aircraft. 1 Bofer Gun and many buildings. Air Raid Shelter. Big Battery, Sandybanks (Steetley). Tested every Sunday — the houses trembled like an earthquake.

Evacuation 1939 to Kirbymoorside by Train aged 5 years old. New Inn — opposite sea.
