My sister and I were privately evacuated from West Ewell (near Epsom) to Suffolk in 1940 during the Blitz. We stayed with family friends but were still very homesick. We attended school, held in a village hall, with the other London evacuees.
After returning home I was evacuated by my employer, with other office staff, to a village near Farnham in Surrey. This was in 1944 during the V1 and V2 rocket attacks. I do have some happy memories of this time.
