I was approximately 6 years old when my younger brother and I were walking around the airfield as we lived close by. We were walking along the perimeter track as we had just heard a plane landing. We carried on walking and heard an increasing roar of engines.Turning around to look we saw a B17 heading towards us.As we walked quicker & quicker an elderly man nearby had seen us & shouted for us to get out of the way.Of cause our walk turned into a run when we realised the enormity of the situation, and we scurried off the track to see the plane trundle by. It was a near miss.!!!
