My brother wrote his memoirs and I never knew that the night the 4 houses were demolished he had passed by 3minutes before after being in a cinema all night till the all clear went. I remember him looking in the shelters to see if we were all ok as he didn鈥檛 go down the shelters at all. He later went on to be a wireless operator air gunner and did many raids on enemy territory but he never told us much as he didn鈥檛 want to worry my mom and always wrote he was fine and in the pink. He lost quite a few friends on the raids he did. We had VE and VJ Day parties in the road with a piano for a sing song and dancing.
