I joined the R.A.F. in Feb. 1939 on a seven year contract and performed a variety of jobs. I was engaged on training air crew in South Africa when I was posted back to the U.K. and given a commission. I eventually ended up in Burma in 1943/44 and was there when the bomb was dropped. I eventually returned to the U.K. at the end of 1945.
