The Battle of Britain is over — I am posted to Wittering. Early 1940 I volunteered to go to Rugby and attend a course in sound projection. Someone came up with the idea of a name for a cinema. I was given the task of developing the idea. We returned with lorry loads of seating and projectors from bombed cinemas in London.

We made a cinema with 2 projectors and about 400 tip-up seats. The favourite film was Henry 8th and his Wives.
