I was playing in the garden with my brothers and sisters, when a German plane flew quite low
above us.
At this point we all ran towards the kitchen door I was the last being the youngest and to my mind they weren鈥檛 moving fast enough up the steps to the door.
I remember there been an old galvanised washing machine on legs and I dived under that for cover to escape the gunfire from the passing planes.
