My father was a gunner in the South Notts Hussars. As a member of the Territorial Army, he was mobilised just before the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. His Regiment left this country in January 1940 for Palestine.After being captured in 1942 in North Africa, a prisoner of war in Italy and then being on the run in Italy from 1943, he didn't return home till 1945.
The story I have to tell is his story, where possible in his words.
