I was serving as a young petty officer onboard the aircraft carrier h.m.s.speaker in the pacific on vj day in 1945, as part of the british pacific fleet, we were the first aircraft carrier to enter tokyo bay at the end of the war, and we took the first ex pow,s 500 in all out of japan and took them to manila where they were made fit enough to continue their journey home, we then went on to nagasaki to take more pow,s out of japan, we were the first british ship to nagasaki harbour at the end of the war twice taking our prisoners down to manila we had the chance to see the atomic bomb damage very awsome to think all that distruction was from one bomb I along with my 3 brothers all joined the navy I myself was sent at the age of 11 to holbrook naval school I served in the royal navy for 35 years becoming the longest serving member of the navy I was also the very first fleet cheif the navy had in all along with my brothers and father we served our country for more than 100 years I have made tapes of my tales and also written a book which I hope to publish very soon
