I am doing an oral dissertation on Japanese prisoners of war 1941-1945 for my history degree and I would like to meet/interview the ex-POWs. I was twelve years old when Malaya fell to the Japanese. I knew there was a war on when we had to hide in the shelter as soon as we heard the siren. Early December 1941, I witnessed two English boys running away from a couple of Japanese soldiers; the soldiers had bayonets fixed onto their rifles. The first boy's neck struck a wire clothesline - he almost fell backwards then he continued running with the second boy following. I don't know what happened to them. There are lots of other stories I can tell re living under the Japanese regime, if anyone's interested. In the meantime I really would like to meet the ex-prisoners of war for my dissertation. Please write to me. Cheers.
