I've always had an interest in Millitary History.
My father's generation fought in the biggest conflict of the last century not by choice but of necessity. Its important that suceeding generations know of their experiances. Its easy just to read 'dates & facts' but history is made up their personal contributions.
My father served in the Royal Navy 1943-1946 enlisting at the age of 16 and served in the far east.
His oldest brother enlisted in 1938 and died at Monte Cassino 22nd June 1944.
My father in law served with the Royal Engineers and was a POW for 5 years, captured in 1940 at Boulounge.
I am grateful that although I served with the Staffordshire Regiment in the mid 70's i never had to experiance what they wnet through.
