I have mainly been interested in war since my nan and grandad have told me of stories and experiences they had in the second world war.This then inspired me to use the topic to research for my A-level personal assignment. As my nan and grandad told me stories of the their experiences at war i noticed the major contrast of attitudes between them; as my nan was evacuated to another family and my grandad had to fight and was later placed in a prisoner of war camp. These two ideas inspired the question for my personal assignment; was the morale on the homefront as high as the propaganda presented it to be and did peoples attitudes to the war change quickly or over a period of time in the second world war?
I am also interested in how far the war front effected the life at the home front?
I will have to study this topic in a large amount of depth and create a solid argument to the question.
I hope there is a broad interest in this topic.
