Horace Godwin, 10540741, Age 83 years.

Royal Army Ordinance Corps (renamed R.E.M.E.). At the tender age of 22 years I boarded the Empire Pride at Liverpool Dock sailing off to land with the First Army to Algeria with the 64th HAA Artillery. From Algeria we moved onto Bougie. After the victory in Tunisia we sailed from Phillipville to land at the port of Taranto in Italy and progressed from there to Bari, the regiment then split up and I sailed across to the island of Vis in the Dalmation Islands to join up with a special force alongside Tito and the Partisans. The force was on the only island that was unoccupied by the Germans. After several months on the island protecting it from enemy aircraft, I moved back to Italy travelling across to Marseille. Progressed up through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany and demobed 22nd August 1946.

Send me a message if you were involved in this campaign please. I would like to hear from you.
