Country of Genghis khan joins the great war.

1. Situation in the Manchuria.

Mongolia was always counted as a most important strategic area in central Asia. Early 30隆炉s Mongolia started 隆掳inner cleaning隆卤 which killed over 24000 lamas and many other anti communists. It was a national tragedy for Mongolians. After this Russia become instant commander. USSR started to send military advisers to newly formed Mongolian peoples revolutionary army. After short time it became one of the strongest army in central Asia. During that time Japanese empire conquered east, central and northern part of China. Imperial headquarter including head command of Kwantung army decided to attack Mongolia so Japan can conquer great strategic location for the upcoming Russian campaign. Japan built a puppet state named Manchu in northern china and inner Mongolia. They put PU YI former prince of Manchu dynasty. This was the starting of attack to Mongolia. Russian leader Stalin and his marshals decided to build military bases in Mongolia so they can protect one of the biggest ally of communism and east part of Russia. 1st and 3d armies sent to new location. At this time Mongolian army accounted over 10000 soldiers ,few brigades of tank and 2 squadrons of fitter plane. Marshal Demid was commanding the army. During 1935-36 Japanese small divisions attacked several times to eastern border of Mongolia. In 1938 Japanese forces planning to test Russian army attacked to Russian border by region of Khasan. They were successfully stopped by Russian soldiers.

2. Preface of the great war.

In may of 1939 Japanese 6th army break the Mongolian border by Halhiin gol region. The 6th army included 5 divisions (10000 men), 300 tanks , 200 planes. Mongolian leader at the time Choibalsan commanded to recruit more men to the army and sent general Tsedenbal and Lhavagsuren to the battle line. Mongolian and Russian troops were immediately dispatched to the region for a counter-offensive, which pushed Japanese back to old border on may 29th. The 2 sides began preparations for a major battle. New reserves brought to 6th army , increasing number of their soldier to 30000. Moscow hastily resigned Zhukov, a general who would become the soviet commander during world war 2, to Mongolia. He arrived Tamsagbulag on June 5, 1939. Zhukov concluded that the 17th corps who all ready deployed in Mongolia was insufficient to win the next battle. So he brought the 9th motorized armored tank brigade, the 150-tank 11th brigade, the 154-tank 7th motorized armored brigade, and the 24th artillery regiment into Halhiin gol area. The Soviet-Mongolian joint forces were also represented by 8th cavalry division of the Mongolian army, backed by a 45-mm artillery unit. Such was the force of the two sides by the time fighting resumed in July 1939. The fighting was fierce. During May till July Japanese forces didn隆炉t succeed with the battle. At the beginning of July, the Japanese were crushed at Bayantsagaan and had had to retreat. The battle of Bayantsagaan lasted 7 days ended with victory of Mongolians. The two sides both had a large number of loose. The two sides began preparation for a third battle. The Japanese brought in two field regiments and one brigade and several Manchugua regiments. The third battle began in mid July. Japanese side had 76000 troops, 304 field guns, 500 cannons, 182 tanks and 300 air crafts. Russian and Mongolian side had a little more force than Japanese. On august 20,the soviet-mongolian force began sudden offencive across seventy kilometers of the front, encircling the Japanese and destroying them in seven days. In three battles,18100 japanese soldiers were killed and 48600 wounded. Soviet and Mongolian killed soldiers numbered 8900 killed and 15900 wounded. Mongolian cavalry units fought heroic. Among the horsemen corporal Dandar became legend. His cavalry unit destroyed many Japanese bases during the war. Mongolian newly formed tank units
Including 4th and 5th motorized divisions fought honorably. In the end Japanese side sent delegates to submit their defeat in Halhiin gol war. It was big test for both soviet and Japanese side. Soviets showed to nazi Germany and Japan their military might. 6 years later in 10th of august 1945 Mongolian army declared war to Japan.
