My nameisDorothy Whitfield Bunting (now Chisholm).I joined the ATS and was sent to Perth then sent down to Leslie in Fife to work in the office of the 2nd Maritime unit. My friends there were Jimmy Monroe, Tommy Collingwood and Bobby Atcheson as well as Mr and Mrs Herd. In London another ATS girl who had transferred to the WACs was Freddie Cox, she worked at 大象传媒.
When I joined the ATS at 18 I has no idea where it would lead. But eventually it led to America, I have now crossed the Atlantic more times than I can count and have travelled over so much of the world that I look back in amazement at the life I left behind: Whalebone Cottage in East Tilbury, Leigh-on-Sea, Burton-on-Trent. The war and the ATS sent me on my way to a wonderful life.
