I was born in Islington on 9/4/39. My parents were Florence Margaret and Albert Edward Worboys.
I spent times during the war between the air raid shelters in London and Evacuation homes. I grew up in my grandmother's house(Sarah Ellen Draper) at 1 Kingsdown Road, Islington. Other kids in the street were, Jimmy Tilley, Brian Armitt, Ronnie Day, Billy Coulson, Lenny Tobin, Bobby Dudley, Alfie Wallace,Beryl Poole, Dianne Tobin, Frances Armstrong, to name a few. My father divorced my mother just after the war and she married my stepgrandfather's younger brother, Alfred.I haven't seen my real father since 1949, my mother wouldn't let me mention his name and I could only see him covertly.I know he lived at Bride Street, Dalston. My name was changed from Worboys to Draper to enable my mother and stepfather to bring me to Australia, in 1954. I live at a place named Point Clare, in New South Wales, Australia. When I left England I was living in a council house in Harold Hill, Essex and I was forbidden to tell anyone even my best friends, that I was leaving. I last saw my friends at Hampstead Heath Fair. They didn't know I was leaving. They had all got jobs at the Fair except me. I had to turn my back on them without saying goodbye. I am retired now but my significant jobs have been with the Australian Customs Service and also the National Parks and Wildlife Service of New South Wales. David
