As a amateur historian I have been researching the short life of a young man by the name of Edmund Snook who was killed in action in the small German town of Lingen on the 4/4/45 while serving with 1st batt Royal Norfolk regt. He started off in the 1/7 Queens Royal regt which was a t/a battalion and was transfered to the Norfolks in november 1944.Edmund was just 20 when he was killed. He was known to friends and family as Eddie and to his commrades as Snooky. I have been very lucky in my research as I have the letters that eddie sent home to his sister, I have also been in contact with eddies younger brother who is now 75.But when I was on the Norfolks Britania & Crown website I made contact with eddies section leader L/CPL who was with him when he was killed. He gave me so much information and helped me fill in all the gaps.
