I am a member of the Farringdon History group. We are currently studying in Farringdon two bomb craters in private woodland. These are undisturbed from the war and were probably dumped bombs from raids on the airport (or exeter). We would like to know more about dates when the airport was hit and the type of bombs used. Metal pieces found suggest 200mm diameter.
Also, we are interested in Farringdon House. This was used by the RAF as a base. I believe Canadian and Polish pilots were also stationed here. Any imformation or contacts of those stationed there would be most welcome.
We hope to have our own web site with all know history of Farringdon shortly.
