I have joined the WW2 People's War website to add an extract from my father's story of his wartime experiences. He was in the Royal Navy and spent most of the war serving as a gunner on D.E.M.S. (Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships). He spent some time on the Winchester Castle and would love to hear from anyone else who served on this ship or indeed anyone who served on D.E.M.S.
He is William Arthur Robinson, known in his navy days as Bill. I have submitted his story and a photograph.
