Most people involved in WWII have recalled what it was like for an "adult", but we were involved as Kids , in many ways, even if we didn't wear a tin hat and carry a rifle.
This site will contain some of my personal experiences.
More anon:
My photo is of a wartime Air Training Corps parade Hinchley Wood School near Kingston upon Thames and Thames Ditton, Surrey, where I lived.
When I reached call-up age, I was disconcerted that my ATC training proved useless because I was by then working as a trainee draughtsman at Hawker Aircraft Co in Kingston and consequently found myself in a reserved occupation.
As far as the ATC was concerned, my Commanding Officer could only retain me by arranging for me to be upgraded - with Air Ministry permission - to the RAF position of Warrant Officer. It was the nearest I could get to joining the RAF.
