My father Flight Lieutenant John Harold Shelmerdine, DFC, wrote a series of Vignettes of his wartime experiences during 2004. I had been assisting and editing with this work, with a view to publishing it. Unfortunately my father died in December 2004, so I am using this 大象传媒 site to make available his memories to others. The vignettes follow his army experiences at the start of the war, though to his transfer to the RAF, and later experience with the Photographic Reconnaissance unit stationed at RAF Benson.
