I am a veteran of WW2. Born in 1924, joined the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers at the age of seventeen years and six months in May 1943, just thirteen months before the Normandy invasion.
I was fully involved in the invasion and all the ensuing action right through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany where I ended my army service with the BAOR occupation forces, in Hamburg. I was demobbed in 1947.
It is my intention to post a part of my autobiography covering my army years on this 大象传媒 site, which I hope, will be of some interest to some of the site members. However, I should warn everyone that having reached the age of extreme maturity and having had a lifetime鈥檚 experience of my fellow human beings, I can be very critical of such people as all politicians; so called experts; the media; including the 大象传媒 and any person who thinks he is special in any way.
I know, without doubt, that every human being on this planet is special, but not more so than any other human being.
The lady who accompanied me to the railway station in May 1943 became my wife and the mother of our two sons who in turn have presented us with two grandsons and one granddaughter.
