WILLIAM EDWARD BRUNT ['Ted'] served as a Flying Officer in the R.A.F. Volunteer Reserve. During a German bombing raid [ exact airfield & date unknown]he climbed a radiomast to repair essential communications. He was later awarded a certificate and medal to show he was 'mentioned in despatches' for distinguished service.Secretary of State for Air Archibald Sinclair was 'charged to record His Majesty's high appreciation.'
This story was told to me by my husband Keith, [Ted's son]
Any more details would be welcome to pass onto Ted's grandchildren.
