At the beginning of 1938 i joined the newly formed local company of the Auxiliary Territorial Service which met once a week in the drill hall.In the last week in August 1938 our company was called to report to the East Kent Regiments barracks in Canterbury, from then until
demobilisation in January 1946. I moved through nine different units and from volunteer to captain.
On return to civilian life i was trained by the institute of Amoners for a carrer in medical
social work and followed this until retirement.
From 1949 to 1952 i took a break with a friend to try to restore a beautiful ruined village in Provence and to create homes for war-chard children which resulted in two girls and i adopting each other,we are now grandmothers and great grandmother to a close knit and loving family.
In the years since retirement i have written the following books:
Castle on a Hill-the story of the Provencal village and the children who came there.
Provencal Tilogy
Great Grandma`s Eighteen
A Segment in Time
