Im doing a bit of research into my granddads time in the Royal Engineers 1939-1945/46.

He was in the 253rd Fld Coy RE as part of the BEF 1940 and then the 17th Fld Coy RE for the remainder of the war. Landing at Sword beach and going right through to Bremen and then on to Palestine.
From what I can gather they spent a lot of time being shelled, clearing mine fields and building bridges.
I would like to hear if anyone has any information on these companies the 17th, 246th and the 253rd Field Companies Royal Engineers
