Name is Larry Southgate. Served in WW2 in the 2nd Bn The Monmouthshire Regt, a short time in the Welch Regiment at Opicina, Trieste, Italy (1946/1947) then transferred to the Royal Signals down in Miramare Castle, Trieste. Thence to Conegliano, Palestine, back to UK and then in September 1948 back to Trieste and the BETFOR Signal Squadron. Looking for anyone who served in Betfor and Betfor Signals during 1945 to 1954 to join up into the BETFOR Association. We have about 300 members now (ladies may also join as associate members, ex-service or widows of ex Betfor members). There is a reunion coming up in September on 9/10/11 September in Coventry (bit late to book now but you could always call in at the Britannia Hotel, Cathedral Square, Fairfax Street, Coventry CV1 5RP to see if you can remember anybody who might be there from the old days).
I have a very bad memory for names and faces but if anybody out there recalls my ugly-mug get in touch. My e-mail address: veccio@telco4u.net. I can always delete the messages if I get too many but, looking forward to anybody getting in touch. Especially a bloke called McCann, from Glasgow, who was my best man at my wedding in Trieste on 25 March 1951.
Cheers
Larry Southgate
