I was born on 26 November 1947 and grew up in a small community in NE Scotland called Cuminestown which lies 35 miles NW of Aberdeen.
I work in the agricultural feed trade just like my father, Edward Thomson, did from 1932 until 1972,apart that is from his time as a soldier fighting in WW2.
I have always had a keen interest in history and in the two world wars in particular. I have read many accounts of the conflicts including lots of works on my hero Winston Churchill.
As a child I did not have a close relationship with my father but after a lot of years working in England I returned to Aberdeenshire in 1991 and took an increasing role in caring for the welfare of both of my parents. It was during this time I spent many hours speaking to my father about his life and times. Dad died in 2004 aged 94.
There was so much information in his head that in Nov 2003 I decided to put as much as I could in writing and the result is a 20,000 word story of the life of Eddie Thomson. Included in this story is his account of his war. I have extracted the relevant details for this Website.
