D-Day memories posted refer to my time living in Colchester during WWII. I was living with my mother, Marjorie Halley (nee Cooke), my grandmother, Alice Cooke, and my uncle, Observer Officer Cyril Cooke, Royal Observer Corps, who also ran a local greengrocers and off-licence in Winnock Road. My father, WOII James Halley, was serving in the Black Watch in Scotland and in the North of England.

I later went on to join the Army myself, reaching the rank of Captain in the Intelligence Corps, and currently have a daughter, Captain Fiona Laws (nee Halley) serving in England with the Royal Logistic Corps.
