I am Les Aspinall, born in Liverpool 1931.
This site interested me because I have just written my autobiography and of course it includes things like the 1939 evacuation of which I was a part of albeit only for a very short time before returning to Liverpool. But then I was evacuated again to a village called Cruckton in Shropshire where I stayed until leaving school in 1945. I returned home in 1945 and got my first job with Coopers of Liverpool, an early supermarket if you like. I was a van boy.
I stuck this for twelve months then returned to the farm in Cruckton where I stayed until joining the Royal Navy in 1952.
I am now retired and living in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
