My original article (contributed 17/12/04) covers what I know about my father's tour of duty as a Lancaster pilot - 1944-45 (Pilot Officer Norman "Robbie" Burns). He was awarded a DFC in 1945, and the citation appeared in the London Gazette in September 1945.
He was in XV Squadron, based at Mildenhall, but I have looked in one history of the squadron, and can find no record of him in the list of medals awarded (it was never officially presented to him).
I would be very interested if anyone connected with the history of Bomber Command could shed light on this - or have I just been looking in the wrong place?
