My Grandad Robert Wells (Bob)was in the 6th Parachute Regiment that saw action at Merville Battery on D-Day. He was one of the lucky ones who made it home. He finds it very difficult to talk about what went on while he was in service and only very recently started to talk about it when prompted. He still very rarely manages to get to the end of what he is talking about. His health has been deteriorating, and I wish I had asked more questions in the past as I would so like to appreciate more about what he and others went through and be able to pass it on to future generations. Being young and wrapped up in my life I feel I also missed the opportunity to help him perhaps meet up with old comrades. So I have been gathering information from websites about what went on but would like to find out more, about d-day and the years leading up to it for those who joined the 6th and the time after that. I would love to know what information others have found and to hear from veterans of their experiences. Perhaps there are some who remember my Grandad who would like to comment or speak to him (via me first as we don't want any surprises!).Grandad has mentioned a french man Sean Paul I think? I am not confident about making my email address public yet so will keep an eye out regulary for any contributions others make on the website. Finally, if you are a veteran reading this thank you, for everything you have done for me, my family and this country it makes me feel immensely proud and humbled.
