On the discovery of my fathers diary after his death in 2002, we were very intriged to know it's contents. The whole diary is written in Latvian and unfortunately neither myself my brother or sister were able to understand it. After advertising in the local paper for a translator, I was extremely fortunate to meet Vilis who was 79 and very willing to help, unfortunately the task was too much for any individual as it is over 400 pages long! Once we realised it's contents we instructed a company to translate the first 1000 words and we have kept going ever since, absolutely rivited.
We would love to have contact from anyone who may have been there or recognise any names from the first few pages written. The story gets better and better and has surprised and amazed his children and all who have read it!!
