I knew Harry from when I started courting his daughter in 1967 up to his death in 1997. He had started telling me some of his wartime experiences, and then several years before his death decided to write it down and I typed it up for him. On his death his widow passed many of his papers, books and photos on to their daughter (my wife) and I. His full story runs from call-up to capture, this extract covers from 16th to 30th May when he was involved in holding up the German advance to allow as much of the BEF and Allies to escape from the beaches of Dunkirk as possible. Shortly after Harry's death I created a web page in his memory containing the full story and other information, at http://www.ph012b2086.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/harry/harrytext2.htm
