My father Clifford Gascoigne was a fitter armourer in the RAF for almost 30 years. One of his friends commented that he had a lot of interesting stories to tell about his experiences and suggested that he should write them all down. At the age of 80, he had already got himself a computer and so he began to put it all down on hard disk. Several thousand words later he completed 'The Life of an Erk' and the stories I have submitted to this site are extracts from it relating to WW2.
