My school was bombed with incendary bombs and
when I went there the following morning I saw
that all the roof was damaged. Not being a lover
of school, I remember being surprised at the
sadness I felt when I saw it. The damaged resulted in the necessary dispersal of the
children to other schools throughout Tottenham
and my class was sent to Earlsmead School in
Broad Lane Tottenham, for some considerable time
until my school was repaired. Outside Earlsmead
School was a baker's shop where you could buy a crusty roll for a farthing and if you could find
four children with a farthing each you could get
five rolls for a penny.
