Jean James is a Manchester born writer living in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
She is the daughter of Private Ernest Hamlett, who served in the Border Regiment, 1st Airborne Division, Italy, Sicily, North Africa and Holland from 1939-45. Her father's biography is on this site, together with "Blackcurrant Jam", which is her own perspective concerning the effects of war on post war children and their families.
Her writing combines her love of world travel and its people, and her commitment to personal growth and spiritual understanding. She has a particular interest in in North Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean, and very much enjoys the, music, dance, art, food and culture of these regions.
