My name is Gill and I am married to William Pullen who is trying to find his family back ground.His Father John was born in Colchester, England ,1913 , he came out to NZ when he was 13 , and had very little contact with his family.
He had two brothers , Roy and Guy ,there may have been sisters but im not sure. his father was William and his mother Henrietta , her maiden name was Redfern.
as far as I know Roy was in the Navy and both he and Guy were killed during WW2.John was with the 24th Battalion 2NZ division and was taken POW at the Sidi Rezegh battle 30/11/41 , and was sent to camps in Italy ,he managed to finaly escape and get back to his unit in Sep 43.
As he has never spoken about his time in the war ,or his family, after his death I have been trying to find out as much as I can about his family in England , and also reaserching his war background , of which I have been able to find the above and a bit more. Gill
