I grew up in Florencecourt, County Fermanagh, N Ireland just a few miles from the border with the Republic of Ireland. While I was born just eight years after WW2 had ended, to me it has always seemed that 'the war' happened a very long time ago.

I joined the Northern Ireland Civil Service in 1971 and moved to live in Belfast - just at the worst of 'the troubles'. I am married and live in Comber, County Down. I have two grown-up children.

While I intend to record accounts from people in County Down I have contacts in the Fermanagh area who I am sure will provide interesting accounts of the War - about farming and perhaps about smuggling and the 'black market'.
