My parents were both on active service in WW2 and are still alive (Jan 2006).
My Dad was in RAF Bomber Command from 1939 until he was demobbed and was a WOP-AG (wireless operator / air gunner)on twin engined Wellington bombers for a tour of 30 ops before becoming an air gunnery instructor. His operations were with 218 Squadron based at Marham in Norfolk.
My Dad has written some poetry describing his time on RAF bomber operations, which are on the Web-site("Flying the Vickers Wellington bomber in 1941-42 : poems by a former WOP / AG.")
My Mum was in the ATS and served from 1942 to 1945 on search-light batteries around London. I have a detailed account of her experiences which I have posted on the Web site for others to read ("With the ATS on a Search-light squad.")
