My two older sisters and I were three of the numerous children evacuated from the Inner London Areas in September 1939, just prior to the outbreak of WW2.
At the time, we were attending a junior School
in Kilburn, North West London.
It was from outside this School that our journey of Evacuation would commence.
We arrived at the village of Long Buckby,in
Northamptonshire, and were initially all billeted at the same address in the High Street.
The couple who took us in, were lovely people,
the man being a well known and respected local
Carpenter and Ladder Maker.
As there were three of us, my two older sisters,
Eileen(11) and Joan(8) were soon to be rebilleted at two different addresses in Long
Buckby.
I was aged 6 years at the time, and was to remain
at the original billet for several happy early
years of the War.
