Welcome to Town End Primary School's People's War page.
From 16th - 20th May 2005 Town End Primary School held a VE Week to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War 2. This was possible as we received a 拢2500 grant from Home Front Recall (a special Lottery programme).
The week included many exciting activities such as visits to Eden Camp Modern History Museum, drama groups and artists working in school and a whole school street party with wartime foods, games and songs. An important part of the week was hearing the stories of WW2 veterans and evacuees who we invited into school to talk to our pupils about their experiences.
Some of our Year 6 pupils (Elliott Ewan, John-Paul Devlin, Ryan Huntley, Louise Rowland, Gavin Dobbs) made transcripts of the stories they were told and then put them onto the People's War website for everyone's enjoyment.
