My name is Leslie Wills I married Irene in march 1940 and started farming in Druids Hayne Bampton Devon. On 29th March 1943 we are all asleep when we heard a noise, this was a n RAF airman, a scotsman who had baled out from a plane, which he thought was about to crash, although we did not hear of any crashes in the area.
He had been wandering about in the dark before finding us, and was anxious to get his important imformation to Headquarters. I went to fetch a policeman and the doctor. the airman was apparently not injured and went away with the policeman. We never saw him again , but we exchanged christmas cards for a few years until we lost touch. before he left he gave us a 50 franc note and signed it with the date 23march 1943, I wonder wher he is today
