The three articles I have submitted are about my immediate family, my Grandfather on my Dad's side, my father the evacuee and my Mother and her family during the war.

Their stories are how I developed an interest in the second world war history, although I had been interested in History in general for many years.

The story about the accordionist on D-Day was told by my grandfather when he found out I was learning to play the accordion.

This led to my mother and I having the amazing experience of attending the 60th D-Day celebrations in Normandy in 2004 along with many other thousands of people. It was an honour to meet some lovely veterans with remarkable stories.
