If you read my story,

Memories of WW2 and the effect it had on my life, You may begin to understand what war does to people and how there lives are effected by events that take place. My story started just before the WW2 infact when I was born in September 1938, My story is about me, my brothers and sisters and about my father he was constripted and was forced to join up to help save the nation from being over run by Hitler and Nazi Germany as many young men of that time were ask to do so,many paid the ultimate price and lost there lives,my father was fortunate and did not go abroad and served with the No1 Training Battn. (Drvs) R.A.S.C. in different parts of the country.

He was a motor vehicle/motor cycle instructor and had to leave a wife and young children at home in North Camp close to Aldershot,Aldershot was a military town and many solders were stationed there during the war, Many solders from diffrent parts of the world.Many Canadian solders stayed in Aldershot and camps surrounding were we lived and this is what started the problems for my father,a big problems in which he had to deal with,it was a very bad time for him and many other wives and husbands who were away fightng for there country.

It was those events at that time which happened and changing his life and my mothers and all the children 3 sons and 2 daughters for the rest of our life. My story is about the events before during and after this war and the sadness that was to carry on long afer it had finished. Lost mother, lost brothers and sisters, and each brother and sister has a sad story to tell but as I am the older brother, I am the only one still alive who can relate the whole story which is what I want to do by writing about the events as I remember them as I went through my life.

Many people lose there life in war but I was to loose my mother my brothers and my sisters for more than fifty years and sadly never ever to see my mother again.I was to greave on losing my family all that time ago,and nearly every day of my live thoughts would come into my mind was that woman I had just passed in the street,was that my mother or my sister, was that fellow I saw on television, he could be my brother Only if it had happened to you could you understand these feelings,no it did not hurt physically but it hurt mentally and there was nothing you could do but hope that one day your lost family would be found as this was caused by the events of that time.

I hope you read my story and understand if you can, my feelings and emotions that was the effect of war and to span all these years from 1938 to 2004. I am not alone or my father or brothers and sisters who where to suffer,are also not alone as many other families suffered in many different ways War can effect so many people in so many different ways.
