I've posted these stories on behalf of my family; my grandparents and parents, who passed on their memories of World War II and made it a reality for the next generation.
My mother's parents were Edmund Joseph (Joe) and Mary Cecile Norris, who lived in Falmouth, Cornwall. They ran The Haven hotel on the Falmouth waterfront; a prime view of a beautiful natural harbour. About halfway through the war, they had to move to live with the rest of my family the St Austell area, when the hotel was requisitioned by the Royal Navy. My maternal grandparents returned to their hotel in Falmouth after the war, later moving to Truro.
My father's parents were Harold and Honor Blair, who live in Winterbourne Gunner, Wiltshire, where my grandfather, Harold, was vicar of the parish. My paternal grandparents later moved to Cornwall (which is where and why my father met my mother) and eventually retired to Sherborne, Dorset.
Each story has been inspired by an image; a photo or an image from the mind's eye.
