‘The Colebrook over 50s’ club was founded on 29th September 2004, and changed its name in May 2005 to ‘The Meadows’ over 50s.
It is a mixed social club established to bring the community together in the newly refurbished Community Centre at Peacock Meadow, Plympton.
A weekly group meeting is held on a Wednesday afternoon. Activities to date have included Line dancing, Metal detecting, bingo, quiz, crafts and calligraphy. Occasionally the group meet at other venues to enjoy a meal together.
Some of the group have also attended ‘free’ computer classes in the community centre using laptop computers. These classes were organised by Liz King of ‘Age Concern Training’ and proved a great success. As a result some people went on to register with Plymouth College of Education for further introductory sessions and basics in computing and have recently been awarded their certificates.
